In India Rajasthan is a state in northern India. It covers 342,239 square kilometres or 10.4 per cent of India's total geographical area. It is the largest Indian state by area. In Rajasthan a very special village - KHICHAN where the special kind of guest - Cranes A Flying Siberian Guest of India with thousands of friend comes every year in the month of September. KHICHAN is a very small village in India and 500 miles(805+ km) away from Rann of Kutch.

Khichan- A village located in the Phalodi tehsil of Jodhpur district Rajasthan (India). A section of this state is engulfed in the Great Indian Thar Desert. Khichan is known for a large number of demoiselle Cranes that visit it every winter (from September). this town receive very little rainfall. This annual bird migration began with around a hundred Cranes in the 1970s, with a local Jain family feeding pigeons. Jainism is an ancient Indian religion, one tenet of which is no harm to animals, and the villagers welcomed the birds. The number goes upto the almost 35,000, sometime it it even goes upto 40,000. It depends on the climate nature if more cold then number of birds increases, if it gets warmer the number in birds goes down.
In Khichan there are many bird feeding home. Including local there are many people from worldwide donates and help for the Cranes. Villager and feeding's home owner spread numbers of wheat bag daily on land to feed these demoiselle Cranes in between the month of September to March. people says that the infamous queen Marie Antoinette names them the 18th century. She believed the birds looked like graceful very young women. There are many stories on this beautiful Cranes - A Flying Siberian Guest of India.
When the temperature reduces they embark on an epic journey by following an ancient migratory route. They fly south at an altitude of about 2600+ feet over the Himalayas. They complete this journey in approximate 14 day. Cranes spends the summer in Mongolia.

This is all generously happening with kindness of Khichan's villagers. They are able to feed and water to these beautiful and precious guest of India that come to stay for the winter. Villager gets happy when Cranes comes but after March once the Cranes leave, it become very quiet. They also says about Cranes are like a family guest. After leaving Khichan when spring arrives, there is no sound, no walk of them felling like very empty and silence everywhere in village.
That's why Rajasthan welcome all with slogan "PADHARO MARO DESH" Hindi - "पधारो म्हारे देश".
