Many social media users, both on Facebook and Twitter, have been sharing three photos one showing a pregnant woman with unusually huge belly and two images showing a man in one photo and a woman in another, surrounded by 17 babies with a claim that an American woman gave birth to Actually A Facebook user 'Dolly Modo Ridings' shared the three photos saying, "Catherine Bridge holds the World Record for the most babies in a lone pregnancy by giving birth to 17 babies...," along with a link to an article published.
WHAT IS TRUTH
The claim that an American woman named Catherine Bridge gave birth to 17 baby boys at once is false. This misinformation originated from an article that was published on a satirical website called 'World News Daily report (WNDR)' by the title 'USA: Mother gives birth to 17 babies at once.
VERIFICATION AND METHODOLOGY
The article the two Facebook users mentioned above shared along with the false claim and three photos, in the fourth paragraph, states, "Although the news went viral, unfortunately it was just a fictional article written by the World News Daily Report." On searching with keywords America mother gives birth to 17 babies world news daily report' we found the article published on WNDR website. A disclaimer on the footer of the website says, "World News Daily Report assumes all responsibility for the satirical nature of its articles and for the fictional nature of their content. All characters appearing in the articles in this website even those based on real people are entirely fictional and any resemblance between them and any person, living, dead or undead, is purely a miracle."
This photo is also viral on social media like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, Tumblr and Pinterest etc.
